Childhood Revisited

From The Daily Post: What is your earliest memory? Describe it in detail, and tell us why you think that experience was the one to stick with you.

A long hallway. Vinyl floors. Bright light streaming through windows and doorways. I entered a classroom full of other children, with small tables and chairs scattered throughout. It is a typical elementary school classroom, with a pile of blocks in one corner and other study stations throughout. I remember standing next to my parents, looking around in silence while they spoke to another adult. End memory.

My first memory is short, but occurred on a meaningful day – my first day of preschool. I have other scattered memories throughout preschool, but I remember the newness of a new experience and my shy feeling entering the classroom for the first time. I can’t quite place why this memory stuck with me. I don’t remember my first day of kindergarten. Regardless, it is a happy memory, and one I’m happy to have.

What is your earliest memory?
