Roadside Architecture of Boyne Falls

This weekend, I made a whirlwind, 36 hour trip up to Boyne City, Michigan to visit my parents. On my way back, I stopped at a few of my favorite roadside architecture spots in Boyne Falls. Boyne Falls is a small town located on U.S. Route 131 south of Petoskey. Wikipedia informs me that the year-round population of Boyne Falls is 294. The community is located adjacent to a 4-seasons resort, Boyne Mountain. I’ve always had a soft spot for the architecture of Boyne Falls, which dates from the pre-resort era and includes delightful roadside motels, small cottages and greasy spoon diners.

Here are two of my favorite spots in Boyne Falls, snow covered and reminiscent of a bygone era.
