#14 Architectural Cake Contest

As part of Preservation Month in May 2015, I was asked to judge the Architectural Cake Contest hosted by the Monroe County Historic Preservation Board of Review. Without question, this was the first time I’ve been able to combine my love of preservation with my love of baked goods.

The contest was open to anyone willing to build a historic building in Monroe County out of cake! Along with the two other judges, we examined the design of all the cake entries, along with sampling a piece from each cake. The overall winner was Beck Chapel, Indiana University. Check out all these amazing cakes! Not only is there a diversity in the buildings represented, but the materials used to build each structure is very creative.
