15 Moments: #9 Heart Bombing

‘Tis the season for year-end posts, so I thought I’d highlight 15 of my notable moments from the year. This is part 9 of 15. Previous parts are here: 1 2 3 4 6 7 8

#9 Heart Bombing

In February, I participated in my first preservation heart bombing! A group of us rallied the first weekend in February to heart bomb two endangered sites in Indianapolis. What is heart bombing, you ask? Read more from the National Trust from Historic Preservation on this nationwide trend started in Buffalo.

We showered two sites with love: Crawford’s Bakery and Phillips Temple. Sadly, Crawford’s Bakery was demolished only a week later. However, Phillips Temple had the opposite result. Saved from demolition in the spring, then sold to a developer who is turning it into apartments! I’m really looking forward to watching this transformation.

We’re planning another round of heart bombing for February 2016, although taking the show on the road to another Indiana city. Stay tuned to Preserve Greater Indy for details!
