15 Moments: #7 Preserve Greater Indy

‘Tis the season for year-end posts, so I thought I’d highlight 15 of my notable moments from the year. This is part 7 of 15. Previous parts are here: 1 2 3 4 5 6

#7 Preserve Greater Indy

This year, I helped start a new group for preservation-minded people in Indianapolis: Preserve Greater Indy. The young preservationist movement is blossoming across the United States – from Pittsburgh, Buffalo, and beyond! A group of young preservationists in Indianapolis decided we wanted in on the fun and thus Preserve Greater Indy was born.

Preserve Greater Indy was founded on three focus areas – Education, Service, and Social. We chose “Greater Indy” not to exclude our friends in Muncie, Bloomington, Columbus, and everything in-between. Although we drew inspiration from the young preservationist movement, we aren’t limiting our events to just young people. We wanted to have fun, but also find ways to educate and engage preservation-minded people in new ways.

Since April, there’s been Preserve Greater Indy Happy Hours, a clean-up, behind the scenes tours, and field trip to Franklin. We already have a few things in the works for 2016. I’m excited to be apart of this new group that hopes to continue spreading the good word of preservation in Central Indiana.

Here’s a few moments from Preserve Greater Indy’s first year. I hope you’ll join us at one of our events next year — everyone is invited! Follow us on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram for the latest news on our program and events.
