Shutterbug Sunday: Bokeh in Rainy Indianapolis

A rainy Indianapolis morning
A rainy Indianapolis morning

As I have discovered, capturing a photograph with bokeh is a challenging task for any photographer. I’ve been trying to take the “perfect” shot for a long time, but have struggled to find the right environment, weather, day, setting, you name it, to capture my dream shot. “Simply put, bokeh is the pleasing or aesthetic quality of out-of-focus blur in a photograph.”

Two weeks ago, on a rainy morning on my commute into downtown Indianapolis, I happened to snag a photo from my windshield while waiting at the light at the corner of Delaware and Washington Streets. It was pouring down rain and the traffic was particularly gruesome that morning. When I arrived at my office, I examined the photograph carefully and realized I finally had achieved the perfect shot!

I would love to see other great examples of bokeh and hear your story of taking “the perfect shot!”
