Favorite Friday: Indiana State Fair

It’s August, which means it’s my favorite time of year: State Fair time! Normally, the unendurable heat of late July and early August alerts my inner calendar that the Fair is approaching. This year, I could hardly believe it was time and was happy to attend on one of the amazing fair weather days we’ve been fortunate to have this summer. There are so many parts of the fair that I love, from the deep fried cookies (of the Girl Scout variety this year), the bright lights of the midway, and the exhibit halls full of everything from quilts to cakes to bonsai trees and giant pumpkins!

This year, I was able to attend for the Balloon Glow, an event that occurs the second Friday evening of the fair. It’s something I’ve always wanted to attend & either scheduling or poor weather has kept me away. Alas, I was able to take in the full splendor of the brightly colored balloons lit beautifully in the dark of night.

For the fair lovers out there, what is your favorite part of the fair? There are so many events during the 18 day event, what are your “can’t miss” parts of the fair?
