On Saturday, I will be exhibiting at my first art fair. I have to admit, the butterflies are there, but I am very excited to take this next step in my art. I was fortunate to get a nice “nudge” from some non-family and friends to encourage me that this was where I needed to go. But, since I’ve been accepted (which only seems like yesterday), I have been very busy painting and getting all the necessary items to make a fabulous booth. I thought I’d preview what to expect and encourage you all to attend.
Artique is hosted by the Lawrence Art Center in Lawrence, Indiana. Not only is this event free, but it features things to do besides just look at art! Santa will take pictures with kids from noon to 3, while The Artists’ Corner features fun art activities for all ages (including making holiday cards and learning how to draw portraits). There are two music stages which will feature some local musicians, while there is also a free photobooth! However, I am pumped about the two food trucks in attendance – both KG Slider Station and Flying Cupcake will be selling burgers and cupcakes, respectively.
This art fair is great because there is an excellent mix of artisans. Ranging from photography, painting, jewelry, wood, glass, ceramics, leather, and mixed media. I’m honored to be alongside this great mix of artists. I am actually only one of two true painters at the event, which is pretty surprising.
What to expect from my booth? Lots of paintings! I have twenty ready to go, alongside prints, cards, and postcards. I will also have some of my new, generic holiday cards for sale! Here’s a sneak peak of the great items I’ve collected to create my booth decor…
I hope to see you all on November 17th at the Lawrence YMCA from 10am to 4pm! For those that do attend, I hope you’ll help me by voting me the “People’s Choice” award winner!
