White Shoal Lighthouse, Lake Michigan

This is one of the earliest subjects I ever painted (second only to Beaumont Tower). For that reason, it’s one of my all time favorites. This is the White Shoal Lighthouse out on Lake Michigan. In real life, this lighthouse is a stunning red and white, still in use, and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This lighthouse is located right before you enter the Straits of Mackinac. I have seen it, up close and person, once, and it was a real gem.

Anyway, I painted this lighthouse a combination of pastel colors. The blue and purple seem to compliment each other nicely for the lighthouse. This will be turned into greeting cards to be sold at a few local businesses in northern Michigan!

The etsy listing for this painting is found here.
